Recent graduate C. Ryan Akers has received the Southern Association for College Student Affairs Dissertation of the Year award for 2008. This is the second consecutive year a UGA student has received the honor.

Students in the department of counseling and human development services’ recreation and leisure studies program recently held a unique fundraising event benefiting Interplast, an international humanitarian organization that provides free reconstructive plastic surgery for the poor in developing countries.

May 14, 2008, 09:25:00 Marietta Teacher Education Student Receives Harwell Scholarship Dyanna Buro, a senior from Marietta, majoring in early childhood education, has been awarded the 55th Paul Tappan Harwell Scholarship. She received an award of $750 and will use the money during her student teaching semester in fall 2008.

Dec 5, 2007, 15:15:00 Graduate student and alumna, Meredith Holland Jones, died Nov. 30, 2007, after battling cancer. Jones was named the Rockdale County Teacher of the Year for 2005-2006.
