Stacey Neuharth-Pritchett has been elected president of the Georgia Association on Young Children (GAYC).
Educational psychology professor Stacey Neuharth-Pritchett has been elected president of the Georgia Association on Young Children (GAYC), a non-profit membership organization that promotes quality early care and education for young children.
She will serve a two-year term beginning in January 2010.
Since 1966, GAYC has worked with local, state and national organizations to improve early care and education for young children in Georgia. The group supports appropriate early learning standards and assessments, accreditation of child care and early education programs, professional development opportunities for those who work with young children, and early detection and support of children with special needs.
Neuharth-Pritchett, a professor and graduate coordinator in the department of educational psychology and instructional technology, focuses her research on early educational intervention and students placed at-risk, and the continuity of educational experiences on children’s transitions from preschool into the primary years of public school.
She is currently serving as editor of the Journal of Research in Childhood Education, works with the College’s applied cognition and development program, and is a Fellow in UGA’s Institute for Behavioral Research.
Neuharth-Pritchett joined the UGA faculty in 1997.
