After retiring as a presbyterian minister and a counseling psychologist, Ted W. Hagen, II (PhD '87) has begun a new career in pharmacy education. After serving at the University of Appalachia College of Pharmacy as the Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Institutional Effectiveness, he has moved to Huntington, West Virginia, to help start a comprehensive pharmacy education center, from Pharm Tech to PharmD. Presently he is the Director of Admissions and faculty member of the first accelerated Pharmacy Technician degree program in the region.

Shields Upchurch (BSEd '77, MEd '85, EdD '94) plays Sherwood Habersham in "Peachtree Battle," the longest-running play in Atlanta theatre history. He was cast in the role in 2002.

Susan Highsmith Graveline (BSEd '78) and daughter Alex founded Mothers and Daughters Against Cancer in 1998 after Susan survived her first bout with cancer. In nine years, MADAC has more than 100 mothers and daughters as members and has raised more than half a million dollars for the American Cancer Society.

Brian Culp will be appointed assistant professor of physical education in the School of Physical Education and Tourism Management at Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis. Culp his PhD in physical education and sport studies from UGA in 2005, his masters in sports administration from Georgia State University and a bachelor's in health and physical education from UGA. Prior to going to IUPUI, Culp had been on the faculty of Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah.

Ginger Crosswhite, a science teacher at Winder-Barrow High School, has been named Barrow County Schools 2006-07 Teacher of the Year. Crosswhite earned her M.Ed. ('94) and Ed.S. ('01) in middle grades education from UGA.

Collins Hill science teacher Mai Yin Tsoi is named Gwinnett County Teacher of the Year, reports the November 4 Gwinnett Daily Post. Tsoi received her doctorate in science education from UGA.
