Oct 14, 2009, 16:40:00 David Gast, professor of special education, has published Single-Subject Research Methodology in Behavioral Sciences. The book is written for student researchers, practitioners, and university faculty who are interested in answering applied research questions and objectively evaluating educational and clinical practices.

A research article by two College of Education professors showing that teachers are inadequately prepared to assist children in the management of their asthma in the classroom was the third most commonly cited article in the Journal of School Nursing over the past three months.

Morris, a faculty member in the department of workforce education, leadership, and social foundations and also the Director of the Race, Class, Place, and Outcomes Research Group at UGA's Institute for Behavioral Research, is the lead author of a featured article in the Jan/Feb 2009 issue of Educational Researcher, which is published by the American Educational Research Association. Entitled, "Why Study the U.S. South? The Nexus of Race and Place in Investigating Black Student Achievement," Morris and his co-author (Carla Monroe, a research scientist at IBR), note that despite national concern, patterns embedded in black student achievement as related to geographical influences generally are ignored, especially in the South, where the majority of black people in the United States reside.

Jan 29, 2009, 10:06:00 Rod Dishman, professor in the department of kinesiology, is the lead author of a research titled, "Move to Improve: A Randomized Workplace Trial to Increase Physical Activity in the February 2009 issue of the American Journal of Preventive Medicine. He and co-authors David DeJoy, Mark Wilson and Ron Vandenberg wrote their research showed that a workplace program that encourages employees to set exercise goals substantially increased workers’ physical activity. Feb 27, 2008, 10:19:00 Karen Samuelsen, an assistant professor in educational psychology and instructional technology, and Robert Lissitz, a professor of education and director of the Maryland Assessment Research Center for Education Success at the University of Maryland, have created a framework with a new vocabulary and a new way of thinking about validity that makes the validation of educational assessments a less daunting task.
