The College of Education at the University of Georgia honored five graduates for their career achievements and community leadership with distinguished alumni awards at its annual Spring Celebration on Monday, April 28 at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education.
The University of Georgia College of Education recognized several outstanding faculty members and an Honors student during its annual Spring Celebration on Monday, April 28 at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education.
Jeremy Kilpatrick, Regents Professor of Mathematics Education, will receive the 2007 Felix Klein Medal from the International Commission on Mathematical Instruction (ICMI) in recognition of his more than 40 years of distinguished achievements in mathematics education research and development.
Thomas Hébert will receive the 2008 Outstanding Alumni Research Award from the University of Connecticut’s Neag School of Education in recognition of his work in gifted education.
Four finalists have been chosen in a national search for a new dean of the University of Georgia College of Education. They will visit UGA over the next three weeks to meet with faculty, staff and students in the college and with university administrators.

Professor Ronald VanSickle was honored for more than 25 years of distinguished service in teaching economics by the National Association of Economic Educators (NAEE).
Arthur “Andy” Horne, interim dean of the College of Education, received the Extended Research Award from the American Counseling Association (ACA) in recognition of his decades of high-quality research on significant issues in the counseling profession.
Nancy Vandergrift, program coordinator for the northeast Georgia Partnership for Reform in Science and Mathematics (PRISM), has received the University of Georgia College of Education’s 2008 Staff Award for Excellence.
