Matthew Segall, a doctoral student in school psychology, received a grant from the Organization for Autism Research. He becomes the first person to receive an OAR grant at both the master's and doctoral level. Segall received a grant in 2007 for his master's research, which examined factors relating to educational professionals' classroom practices for the inclusion of students with autism spectrum disorders. The doctoral study will take his preliminary research a step further by studying the educational placement of these students.

UGA's Russia Study Abroad program featured in Mari El Pravda
For the fifth year in a row, Gwynn Powell, an associate professor in counseling and human development services, has led a group of UGA graduate students in recreation and leisure studies to work at a summer youth camp in Russia in a UGA Study Abroad program. A local Russian newspaper, Mari El Pravda did a story on their visit on July 8, 2009. (English translation inside.)

Early childhood education student receives Harwell Scholarship
Jewelin Patulot, a senior from Stone Mountain majoring in early childhood education, has been awarded the 56th Paul Tappan Harwell Scholarship. She received an award of $750 and will use the money during her student teaching semester in the spring of 2010.
