Several of the nation’s top scholars in Latino education spoke at UGA last month in the first Triennial Conference on Latino Education and Immigration entitled, Setting a Cogent Policy and Research Agenda, hosted by the Center for Latino Achievement and Success in Education.

Georgia’s educators should take advantage of the opportunities afforded by the current economic crisis—specifically, the federally recognized link between education and economic recovery—to join other states in calling for national standards in mathematics and reading, said Bob Wise, president of the Alliance for Excellent Education.
More than 100 of Georgia’s top education leaders and policymakers are expected to attend the University of Georgia College of Education’s second annual Education in Georgia: A State of the State Report on Thursday, Oct. 1, at UGA’s Gwinnett Campus.
