College of Education professor Merrily Dunn has received the Research and Publication Award from the Association of College and University Housing Officers International (ACUHO-I).
The international award recognizes an individual who has made significant contributions to scholarly literature related to the university housing profession.
Dunn, an associate professor in the department of counseling and human development services, is coordinator of the master’s program in college student affairs administration. She teaches classes in student development theory, legal issues and staff supervision. Additionally, she oversees internship students working in residence halls.
Dunn’s research interests include student affairs in higher education, legal issues and gender issues.
Prior to coming to UGA in 2001, Dunn was the program coordinator of student affairs in higher education and an associate professor at Mississippi State University. She served as a faculty member at the National Housing Training Institute in 2000 and 1998, and as the Scholar-in-Residence at the 2000 ACUHO-I Conference.
.Dunn earned her Ph.D. in educational leadership and policy from Ohio State University, a master’s in higher education administration from Iowa State University and a bachelor‘s in political science from the University of Nebraska.
ACUHO-I is a professional association dedicated to supporting the collegiate residential experience. It has a membership of nearly 6,000 individuals from over 900 colleges and universities, who serve 1.8 million students worldwide.
