Smith will be a keynote speaker at the National Association of Campus Activities Central Regional Conference.
Khrystal L. Smith, a doctoral candidate in the University of Georgia’s college student affairs administration program, has been invited to be a keynote speaker at the National Association of Campus Activities Central Regional Conference in Tulsa, Okla., this October.
Smith, who credits her love for student involvement to her undergraduate experience with student government, Greek life and student activities, previously worked as the assistant director of student activities at St. Augustine’s College before attending UGA. More recently, she worked as a doctoral intern for the Center for Student Organizations.
Her research interests include student involvement in clubs, risk management and the creation of campus community. She has presented her research at both the NASPA – Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education and the American College Personnel Association national conferences.
Smith graduated from Winston-Salem State University in 2001 and earned a master’s degree in communication from the University of Maryland-College Park. She plans to graduate from UGA in December 2008.
The college student affairs administration program is based in the College of Education’s department of counseling and human development services.
