Helen Kruskamp is a second-year master's student in the school counseling program.
Counseling graduate student Helen Kruskamp has been selected as one of only 15 students in the nation to receive a Ross Trust Scholarship from the American Counseling Association.

Kruskamp, a second-year master’s student, is majoring in professional counseling with a concentration in school counseling. For her final project, she is using a small group curriculum to help children gain the skills necessary for success in school.

Upon her graduation this spring, Kruskamp will begin working toward a specialist degree in education administration and policy. Her long-term goal is to earn a doctorate in counselor education and teach at the university level. Kruskamp received her bachelor’s degree from UGA in women’s studies.

The scholarship includes a $1,000 award, an ACA membership extension and registration for the 2009 ACA conference where Kruskamp is scheduled to do a poster presentation titled, No Family Left Behind: Creating Welcoming School Environments for LGBT Parented Families.
