| Two authors win Flannery OConnor Awards for short fiction | |||||||||
By Stephanie Hansen The 1999 winners of the Flannery OConnor Award for Short Fiction, given each year by the UGA Press, are Robert Anderson and Bill Roorbach. For the first time this year, the awards were publicly announced at a gala event. The celebration both honored the memory of OConnor, noted Georgia writer, and launched the effort to raise an endowment to support the award. The awards were presented to the authors by Stephen Portch, chancellor of the University System of Georgia, at the City Club of Macon in the fall. |
