Former regent, football team physician, dies
By Larry B. Dendy

Dr. John H. (Bud) Robinson of Americus, a UGA alumnus and former physician for the Bulldog football team after whom a clinic in the University Health Center is named, died Dec. 20.
Robinson, 87, was also a former member of the University System Board of Regents. A 1935 UGA graduate, he received his M.D. from the Medical College of Georgia and practiced medicine in Americus for 35 years, serving as chief of surgery for Sumter Regional Hospital. After retiring, he was the volunteer physician for the Bulldog football team for five years and was awarded the title of team physician emeritus.
The sports medicine clinic in the University Health Center is named for Robinson, who was also team physician for the Americus High School athletic program for 33 years and a team physician for the Philadelphia Phillies baseball farm team in Americus.
The clinic was named for Robinson after his friends and family collected $100,000 in a fund-raising campaign to help equip the facility.
