Administrative Changes
New soccer coaches
Sue Montagne-Patberg, who led Minnesota to five consecutive NCAA tournament appearances, has been named the new women’s soccer coach at UGA. The vacant assistant coaching position has been filled by Rutgers assistant soccer coach Christopher Kane.
Montagne-Patberg, who had been Minnesota’s only soccer coach since its program began in 1993, led her team to two Big Ten championships--1995 and in 1997--becoming the first Big Ten team to win the title with an undefeated record.
Kane, who was responsible for the day-to-day training of Rutgers’s goalkeepers last season, will assume the responsibilities at UGA of working with the goalie tandem of Nicole Williams and Christine Bowers, along with working in all the other facets of the program.

Football coach
Doug Marrone, offensive line coach at Georgia Tech the past three seasons, has been named assistant football coach at UGA. Marrone also will work with the offensive line filling a position formerly held by Pat Watson, who died of a heart attack Sept. 25.
Marrone joined the Georgia Tech staff as director of football operations in 1995. He coached tight ends in 1996 before taking over the offensive line in 1997. Prior to joining the Tech staff he held positions as offensive line coach at Northeastern (1994), offensive line coach at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (1993) and tight ends coach at Cortland (N.Y.) State (1992).
A native of the Bronx, N.Y., Marrone played college football at Syracuse before being drafted in the sixth round of the NFL draft by the Los Angeles Raiders in 1986. In addition to playing for teams in Miami, Dallas, New Orleans, Minnesota and Pittsburgh, he played two seasons with the World League champion London Monarchs, earning all-World offensive line honors.

External affairs
Senior Vice President for External Affairs Kathryn Costello has announced three personnel changes within that division. Mac Corry is executive assistant to the senior vice president and external affairs division chief of staff. Scott Sikes is interim executive director of development, and Tammy Gilland is associate director of development and interim director of college relations.
