Georgia Repertory Theatre returns |
Athenss own professional theatre company continues its tradition of presenting Athens with professional world premieres. The Georgia Repertory Theatre is producing Salvage, a new drama by William Goulet, to open Feb. 16 at the Seney-Stovall Chapel.
In Salvage two ominous fix-it men try to repair a couples front porch. In the process the couple realizes that more than their front porch needs to be saved. Playwright William Goulet has created a world that blurs the line between realism and fantasy. Salvage is a thought-provoking exploration of disintegrating relationships.
Salvage is written by former UGA student William Goulet and directed by faculty member Stanley Longman. The production will star Atlanta actors John Forman and Bruce Evers as well as Michelle Morain, who has performed at the Oregon Shakespeare festival and the American Conservatory Theatre.
The Georgia Rep, Athenss only professional theater company, is a University and Resident Theatre Association theater housed in UGAs drama department. The mission of the Georgia Rep is to offer the Athens community and UGA students an opportunity to see professionally produced world premieres of American plays written by established playwrights.
Salvage will take the stage at the Seney-Stovall Chapel on Milledge Avenue, in the Lucy Cobb Institute. The show will be performed Feb. 16-19 and 23-26 at 8 p.m. and Feb. 20 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 for regular admission and $10 for students. They can be purchased at the University Theatre box office, located in the lobby of the Fine Arts Building. Box office hours are noon to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. During those hours, the box office can be reached at 542-2838. Tickets will also be available one hour prior to showtime at the Seney-Stovall Chapel.
