Alumna pens fourth book in series

Skeleton Crew, UGA alumna Beverly Connor’s fourth book, features fictitious UGA faculty member Lindsay Chamberlain in a novel that’s part archaeology, part outdoor adventure and part murder mystery.
The backdrop for Skeleton Crew is a series of archaeological digs in the Southeast that cover the period from about the time of the European exploration, when expeditions of Spanish conquistadors were on forays through the area, until present-day settings. Chamberlain and a crew of archaeologists are excavating a Spanish galleon that sank off the coast of Georgia in 1558.
Chamberlain comes into possession of a diary written by a passenger on the ill-fated galleon. The diary describes the journey and life aboard the sailing vessel and a murder that happened more than 450 years ago.
Anxiety takes a toll on the excavating crew as modern-day pirates loom on the horizon, anxious to beat the archaeologists to the treasure, and a hurricane is blowing their way as well. Adding to the troubles, two men with ties to the site are found murdered.
As troubles escalate, it’s up to Chamberlain to solve both the ancient and modern-day murders.
