Reserve materials deadline
The deadline to submit materials to be placed on reserve at the main and science libraries for summer 2000 is April 10. Materials submitted by this date will be ready for class use by May 10. Materials received after April 10 will be processed as quickly as possible, in the order in which they are received. Reserve lists may be submitted in person to the reserve desk or electronically from the libraries’ Web site (www.libs.uga.edu/maincirc/resform.html). For further information, contact the main library (542-0639; mainresv@uga.edu) or the science library (542-4535; sciresv@uga.edu).

Partnership grant opportunities
Grant applications that call for partnerships between institutions are sometimes summarily dismissed because there is no time to develop the partnership before the proposal deadline. However, the University of Georgia and Georgia Perimeter College have a long-standing partnership at the Gwinnett University Center. Staff members at UGA-Gwinnett are interested in discussing possible proposals, particularly in the area of technology in higher education. To discuss a possibility, contact Dorothy F. Carrillo, director, UGA-Gwinnett [(770) 995-6885; dcarrill@uga.edu].

Bone-health study
Researchers in the department of foods and nutrition are conducting a study to determine if physical activity and proper nutrition during childhood promote optimal bone health and help to prevent osteoporosis, a bone disease common among older women. Girls aged four to eight are sought for the study. Eligible girls will be paid $520 for participation. Call 542-4918 or e-mail bones@uga.edu for more information.

Bulgarian research symposium
The European Center of Georgia, based in Athens at UGA, will co-sponsor a Bulgarian Research Symposium and Network Meeting in the D.M. Smith Building on the Georgia Tech campus in Atlanta on April 6-7. The symposium will bring together researchers in universities throughout the state who are working on projects related to Bulgaria. They will present and discuss on-going research and future collaborative research and project possibilities; experts from Bulgaria and elsewhere in the United States will participate. The symposium is open to faculty, students and others interested in developments in Bulgaria and other transitional post-Communist societies. For more information, contact Blair Dorminey, 111 Candler Hall (542-7887; bdormine@uga.edu).

Athens Social Forum
The Athens Social Forum sponsors activities at which members can meet interesting people in the UGA-Athens community. For information on specific events, check the Web page (www.arches.uga.edu/~asf). For more information, call 613-5607 or e-mail asf@uga.edu.

Bulletin Board prints announcements from campus-based organizations whose membership includes UGA faculty and/or staff. Send notices by e-mail, campus mail (A-205 Stegeman Coliseum, Campus Mail 4371) or fax (542-8020).
