Position announcement
The Division of Academic Assistance is accepting applications for the position of assistant director. The division is the primary provider of academic support on campus, providing a wide range of services including structured elective and mandated courses, a Learning Center, a peer-tutoring program, residential satellite offices and adjunct seminars.
Applicants must have an Ed.D. or Ph.D. in higher education, administration, or in one of the academic areas represented in the division: counseling, English, mathematics or reading/studying. Knowledge of program evaluation and statistical packages and experience teaching in or administering an academic-assistance or learning-support program is desirable. This position is eclectic in nature and requires someone who is flexible and works well with others.
Duties include creating and maintaining division databases and student records, including a system that monitors student progress; evaluating the program and instruction; assisting the director with the day-to-day operation of the division, including overseeing compliance with board of regents, university, and division policies; general operational procedures; coordinating the four academic areas represented in the division; managing four federally funded TRIO programs; and writing reports. Salary commensurate with experience.

Summer swim program
Registration is now open for this year’s Children’s Summer Swim Program at the Ramsey Student Center. Cost is $55 for nine lessons for children between 3 and 15 years old.
Morning classes meet weekdays, 9:15-10:15 a.m., in the Ramsey Center pool. Four sessions are offered: June 12-22, June 26-July 7 (no class July 4), July 10-20 and July 24-Aug. 3. Classes are limited to 20 children. Instruction is offered at beginner, intermediate, advanced and competitive levels.
One evening session will also be offered, for beginners only, 6-7 p.m. June 12-22. The evening session is limited to 25 children; spaces for this session must be reserved by telephone at 542-5947.
Parents of beginning swimmers aged 3 to 7 are required to come in a swimming suit and join in the instruction in the water.
