Leonard N. Reid, associate dean of the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, will become interim dean of the college July 1, when J. Thomas Russell retires.
Reid, a professor of advertising, has been on the college’s faculty since 1980 and is associate dean for research and graduate studies. He previously served as head of the department of advertising and public relations.
“Len Reid’s deep experience as a teacher, researcher and administrator in the Grady College ideally qualify him to lead the college during this interim period,” says Karen Holbrook, senior vice president for academic affairs and provost. “He will provide wise guidance to keep the college operating at its customary high level of excellence while a search is under way for a permanent dean.”
Nationally known for his scholarship in the field of advertising, Reid is a former editor of the Journal of Advertising and received the Outstanding Contribution to Research Award from the American Academy of Advertising.
