Book updates pictorial history of UGA

A Pictorial History of the University of Georgia was first published in celebration of the school’s bicentennial in 1985. Featuring 40 new photos (for a total of more than 340), this revised and expanded edition now covers UGA’s subsequent growth and development.
Recent major events and accomplishments covered in the new edition include the building, renovation and landscaping boom on campus; the university’s soaring academic reputation; the rise of women’s athletics; the school’s championships in tennis, gymnastics and other sports; the 1996 Olympics; the “wiring” of campus; the legacy of former president Charles Knapp; and the new administration of President Michael F. Adams.
From landmark changes to little-known events and facts, A Pictorial History of the University of Georgia presents a complete portrait of the school that blends educational innovation and cultural diversity with long-standing traditions.
A retired professor of history, F.N. Boney has been affiliated with UGA for more than 30 years. He will sign copies of his book at Barnes and Noble Booksellers on April 18 at 7 p.m.
