Performing Arts Center opens its fifth season
Subscriptions to the Performing Arts Center’s 2000-2001 fifth-anniversary season are on sale now, at a savings of as much as 24 percent off single-ticket prices. Season subscribers are guaranteed seats to sold-out concerts and enjoy flexible exchange privileges if they cannot attend one of their assigned concerts.
Single tickets to individual concerts go on sale to the public Aug. 21. The priority purchase period for UGA faculty, staff and students begins Aug. 14.
The season will include 32 performances arranged in seven series: Music Series I, Music Series II, Showtime, Dance Festival, Traditions, the Ramsey Concert Hall Series and the Franklin College Chamber Music Series. “The season looks forward to new artists and performances while enjoying return visits from some past favorites,” says Timothy A. Bartholow, director of the Office of Performing Arts. “Among those returning are Georgia’s own Atlanta Symphony Orchestra as well as the Atlanta Ballet, guitarist Christopher Parkening (in a new partnership with baritone Jubilant Sykes), pianists Philippe Entremont and Adam Neiman, and Scottish fiddler Bonnie Rideout.”
The special event of the season will be the Athens debut of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra’s new music director, Robert Spano. Spano and the ASO will appear on Sept. 24 with renowned pianist Emanuel Ax.
The box office at the Performing Arts Center is open weekdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information or a copy of the season brochure, call 542-4400. Season details are also available on the Web at www.uga.edu/pac.
