Football parking changes announced for fall
By Matthew Winston

Fans attending home football games at the university this fall should be aware of changes in campus parking arrangements.
Ongoing campus improvement projects, combined with increased demand for tickets and parking due to recent successful football seasons, have resulted in several new parking alternatives in 2000.
Fans will be urged to use the East Campus parking lots, from which it is a short walk to Sanford Stadium. In addition, five parking decks are available for game-day parking, all within a reasonable walking distance of the stadium--the East Campus deck, the South Campus deck, the North Campus deck, the Clarke County Courthouse deck and the College Avenue deck downtown.
Because the Student Learning Center is under construction on the former bookstore parking lot, 375 contributors to the Georgia Student Educational Fund who parked there have been reassigned to lots that were previously open for general parking.
Those newly reserved GSEF lots are Boyd Graduate Studies and Hardman Hall, Legion Pool, Lipscomb Hall, East Hull, the railroad lot on East Campus Road, Dawson Hall, food sciences, and the physical plant lot on East Campus Road.
Permits for these lots will be issued first to those losing their previous parking, and the remaining spaces will be issued according to yearly GSEF contributions.
In conjunction with these parking arrangements, several roads will be accessible by permit only. All roads inside a perimeter bordered by Lumpkin, Baldwin, East Campus, Cedar and Green streets will be restricted to persons with either an Athletic Association or a special housing permit.
UGA and Athens-Clarke County police will ticket and tow all vehicles that impede or block traffic or are illegally parked. Patrolling and enforcement will be concentrated on campus and the adjacent streets and neighborhoods.
Temporary signage in these areas will emphasize the new game-day parking regulations.
