UGACards for dependents
The UGACard Oversight Committee, at the request of the division of human resources, has agreed to make available dependent ID cards. To be eligible, the dependent must be a student, living at home (or at school), unmarried and under the age of 25.
Service providers will set their own policies concerning the services available to these newly eligible dependents. At this time, the libraries, the Ramsey Student Center and the golf course will extend some privileges to these dependents; the athletic ticket sales office will retain their original policy.
In order to maintain eligibility, the UGA sponsor will have to sign and return a form each year, indicating the status of each dependent over age 17. This year the form will extend privileges for Sept. 1-May 31.
In the future the form will be mailed in April for return by May 31, and privileges will be available from June 1 through May 31. As with all official state records, falsification is cause for immediate dismissal and may be grounds for criminal prosecution.
Application forms are available in the student activities business office in the Tate Student Center; they must be picked up in person. The dependent can come in to have an UGACard made during regular UGACard office hours one week after the form has been submitted.
The office is regularly open weekdays, 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. It will be closed for Labor Day on Sept. 4 but will be open from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 2. For additional information, or to report lost or stolen cards, call 542-8549 or 542-8074.
