Individual items will be available at a discount of 10 percent; the full package is $299.95, a savings of 30 percent.

Fraternity, sorority mentoring
UGA’s Office of Greek Life is once again sponsoring the “Invest” program, which allows a fraternity or sorority member to be paired with a university faculty or staff member to gain insight and different perspectives through personal interaction. The faculty or staff member meets with the assigned student at least once a month. For more information, contact Darrell Ray (storm5@uga.edu; 542-4612).

Law enforcement scholarships
The Georgia Police Corps offers scholarships to selected students who are willing to commit to four years of service as a local law enforcement officer after graduation from college. Each student can receive up to $30,000. The program is open to all academic majors. Seniors and juniors are encouraged to apply; they can receive repayment of undergraduate expenses up to the cap of $30,000.
Robert Gaylor Jr., program director for the Georgia Police Corps, will visit campus Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to answer questions and provide information. He will be in room 139 of the Tate Student Center. No appointment is needed. The visit is being coordinated at UGA by the Criminal Justice Club. The toll-free number of the Georgia Police Corps is (877) 267-4630.

Wellness screenings
The College of Pharmacy continues to hold wellness screenings in the Wellness Clinic on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month from 6:30 to 9 a.m. The next screening is scheduled for Sept. 27. Screening includes cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure, body-fat percentage, facial-skin characteristics and bone density. Patients are asked not to eat for at least 12 hours before the screening, and women are asked not to wear hose for the bone-density test. The cost of the series of screenings is $35. To schedule an appointment or for more information, call Joy Ogletree (542-7400) or Tommy Johnson (542-5366).

Strategic plan forums
The Strategic Planning Committee of University Council, chaired by William Davis from the School of Music, will host two open forums to receive comments, suggestions and recommendations on the institutional strategic plan, which has been submitted to the committee by Vice President for Strategic Planning Don Eastman. The forums will be from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in room 137 of the Tate Student Center on Tuesday, Oct. 10, and Wednesday, Oct. 11.
The plan can be viewed on the Web at www.strategicplanning@uga.edu, or hard copies can be requested from the Office of Strategic Planning, 542-2558.

WebCT 3 workshops
University Computing and Networking Services and the Office of Instructional Support and Development will offer a series of workshops on WebCT version 3 beginning in October. They will be held in room 275, journalism building. Because they will offer hands-on instruction, advance registration is required. Register on the WebCT home page (webct.uga.edu) under “WebCT Training Sessions.”
In addition to the workshops, UCNS and OISD will offer noon seminars for current users of WebCT 1.3 to demonstrate some of the new features of WebCT 3. Details about these seminars are available in the same Web location.
