The Strategic Planning Committee of University Council is in the process of reviewing the University of Georgia Institutional Strategic Plan: 2000-2010 and will solicit input from faculty and staff in two public forums set for Oct. 10 and 11.
The plan was submitted to the committee by Vice President for Strategic Planning Don Eastman on behalf of the university-wide Strategic Planning Advisory Group and the senior administration and will eventually be presented to the full University Council.
This plan has been under construction for better than a year and a half and represents involvement by faculty, staff, alumni and donors from units throughout the campus, says William Davis, chair of the councils Strategic Planning Committee and also a member of the institutional committee that worked on the plan.
The University Council committee is charged with reviewing the institutional plan, communicating it to campus constituents, and making a recommendation to the University Council for approval of the plan.
Faculty and staff are invited to give input on the plan at open forums on Oct. 10 and 11. The sessions will be held in room 137 of the Tate Student Center from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on each of those days. Davis, Eastman and others involved in developing the plan will be on hand.
It is envisioned that the current plan will be annually reviewed and updated so that it will remain current and be an active part of the decision-making structure of the university, Davis says. The committee believes this annual review will be an effective way to advance the conversation between the faculty and the administration of the university.
Those unable to attend the public forums can send comments and suggestions to Davis at wddavis@uga.edu. Davis says feedback is needed by Oct. 12. |
