Administrator dismissed for failing to respond to U.S. News survey
Sheila Bennett, a senior vice president at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, was asked to resign from her administrative position after she failed to send U.S. News and World Report updated information for their annual college rankings issue.
According to information on the college’s Web site, President Mark Gearan asked for her resignation because the magazine was forced to rely on old data, and thus the college fell from Tier II to Tier III in the rankings of liberal arts colleges.
Bennett, who also is a professor of sociology, served as the provost and dean
of faculty for 10 years. She will retain her position as a professor of sociology.
