Campaign change
The charitable organization Canine Vision, listed in the current UGA Campaign for Charities brochure as organization number 14700, has closed because of financial difficulties. Employees cannot select Canine Vision as a recipient of Campaign for Charities contributions.
Final exam conflicts
Final examinations for fall semester are scheduled for Dec. 11-15. Faculty wishing to change the time or date of a final examination must first seek approval from their respective department head and dean, and then send a written request to the provosts office explaining the reason for the change and the provisions that will be made to accommodate students who may have personal or academic conflicts with the proposed time/date change in the schedule.
Students who have personal conflicts with a scheduled exam may appeal to the instructor to take the final at a different time/date and the instructor can, with consent from the department head, approve or deny the students appeal.
Students who have two final examinations scheduled at the same time or three final exams on the same calendar day may appeal to have one examination changed to a different time/date by contacting the provosts office. Conflicts will be resolved through conversations with the student and the instructor.
Questions and requests should be directed to the provosts office, 203 administration building, 542-7715, nismith@uga.edu.
Free required posters
The Equal Opportunity Office at UGA reminds university units that the federal and state posters which employers are required to post on employee bulletin boards are available free. Some publishers have recently advertised special purchases of these posters for $39-$100, but the required posters are available at no cost from the Equal Opportunity Office and the Division of Human Resources.
Questions about such posting requirements or about the availability of posters should be directed to Julia Harris in the Equal Opportunity Office (542-7912) or Sige Burden in Human Resources (542-9756).

Master calendar items
During the month of December, the UGA master calendar will be moved from its original Web site (www.uga.edu/uc/calendar) to a new site at www.uga.edu/mastercalendar.
The new site allows sponsoring university units to submit entries online. University Communications, which maintains the master calendar, requests that online submission be used whenever possible, to minimize the need for re-keying of entries.
Online submission is now in operation. The actual master calendar will be moved to the new site on Dec. 6.
To submit an entry, go to the master calendar site (www.uga.edu/mastercalendar) and click on submit an entry. Fill out all applicable fields, including a contact name and phone number. Click confirm to review and verify your submitted information. If you need to change what you have entered, use the back button to edit your entry. When all is correct, hit submit to complete your entry. All entries are subject to approval and editing by University Communications before posting on the Web.
Submit entries as far in advance of the event date as possible--a year in advance is not too early for this master planning calendar. Submit the item as soon as the event date is confirmed, and provide additional details as they are finalized.
If it is not possible to submit an item online, the information can be sent by campus mail (Master Calendar, University Communications, 310 Old College).
The UGA Guide--the events calendar which appears in each issue of Columns--begins with information from the master calendar. Additional details are included when they have been provided, if space allows. Sponsoring units should continue to send such additional information to Columns, preferably by e-mail (columns@uga.edu), or by campus mail (Columns, News Service, A-205 Stegeman Coliseum) or fax (542-8020).
Bulletin Board prints announcements from campus-based organizations whose membership includes UGA faculty and/or staff. Send notices by e-mail, campus mail (A-205 Stegeman Coliseum, Campus Mail 4371) or fax (542-8020). |
