Class schedule
The last day of classes for fall semester is Dec. 7, a Thursday. However, in order to equalize the number of class minutes of instruction in Monday-Wednesday-Friday classes and Tuesday-Thursday classes, the university will operate on a Monday class schedule on that final day. The inequality was caused by the Monday Labor Day holiday. The last class meeting for classes which meet on a Tuesday-Thursday schedule will be Tuesday, Dec. 5.

WebCT access
Beginning with spring semester, faculty and students will need a “UGA MyID” to access WebCT courses. Those who have an account on Arches can use their Arches ID and do not need to create a new account. Anyone who does not have an Arches account will need to create a “MyID” by going to www.uga.edu/myid. For more information about the new version of WebCT and the upgrade procedure, check the WebCT home page (webct.uga.edu).

Desegregation documentary
The documentary Foot Soldier for Equal Justice, Part II: Horace T. Ward and the Desegregation of the University of Georgia--The Aftermath will air on Georgia Public Television on Dec. 28 at 10 p.m. The film is narrated by Julian Bond. Maurice C. Daniels, associate professor in the School of Social Work, was the executive producer. The film was produced in conjunction with the Georgia Center for Continuing Education.

Education awards
The International Development Education Awards Grant Program sponsored by the Office of the Vice President for Public Service and Outreach is accepting proposals for inventive programs within the international field.
The goal of the IDEAS program is to stimulate the globalization of the university by encouraging faculty and staff to initiate public service and outreach international projects.
Proposed activities should develop or build on existing international linkages or collaborations and will ideally result in the submission of a proposal for external funding.
Applications are due by Jan. 5, 2001, and should include a concise proposal (three to four pages) summarizing the rationale and project objectives, a description of activities and anticipated outcomes and a complete schedule of activities.
Applications must include a detailed budget with all anticipated funding sources, curriculum vitae of the project’s principal investigator, a letter of support from the department head and dean, and a cover page. Applications should be mailed to IDEAS, Office of International Development, 111 Candler Hall. For more information, contact Jennifer Frum (jfrum@uga.edu).
