The Georgia Economic Outlook luncheon series, sponsored by UGA’s Terry College of Business, will again tour the state during December and January.
The annual series of economic forecasts, now in its 18th year, attracts about 3,000 of Georgia’s business and governmental leaders to luncheons in nine cities. The series kicks off Dec. 6 in Atlanta at the Georgia World Congress Center and stops in Albany (Dec. 12), Thomasville (Dec. 13), Columbus (Jan. 12), Augusta (Jan. 19), Swainsboro (Jan. 23), Savannah (Jan. 25), Brunswick (Jan. 26) and Macon (Jan. 31).
In each city where the luncheons are held, local sponsors include the chamber of commerce, economic development commissions and authorities, area newspapers, regional development commissions, UGA Business Outreach Services and Small Business Development Centers and local colleges, universities and technical institutes.
The forecasts include predictions on how the national and state economies will perform in 2001. Economic projections extend into real estate, agriculture, manufacturing, retail, transportation, communications, financial services, public utilities, tourism and international trade.
