Digital discussions
UGA’s New Media Institute hosted “9 to 9: The Athens New Media Experience” Dec. 8 in their new location in the downtown Bank of America building. More than 200 people from around the state listened as representatives from area businesses, local government, UGA and local artists discussed what is happening in Athens new media today. Lee Duffey, Duffey Communications, Atlanta; Dan Heath, Thinkwell, Austin, Texas; Rob Norris, Vialogix, Charlotte, N.C.; and Tom Hall, city manager, LaGrange, answered questions regarding what they are doing to build and promote new media centers in their areas. The New Media Institute is UGA’s interdisciplinary unit dedicated to exploring the commercial, critical and creative uses of digital media technologies.
