Exec leaves millions to Furman
A textile executive has bequeathed much of his entire $400 million estate to South Carolina’s Furman University. John D. Hollingsworth, 83, had spent his life building John D. Hollingsworth on Wheels Inc., founded by his grandfather in 1894. The company, a privately held manufacturer of machines that separate textile fibers, employs about 450 in Greenville, S.C., and an additional 1,500 worldwide.
Forty-five percent of Hollingsworth’s estate will go to Furman; an additional
45 percent will go to charities picked annually by the board of his non-profit foundation. The remaining 10 percent will go the Greenville YMCA.

All-Web M.B.A. graduates
When the first six graduates of the University of Baltimore’s online master of business administration program received their degrees earlier this month, it also was the first time the students met.
Baltimore’s All-Web M.B.A. program, launched in 1999, was the first of its kind offered at a university accredited by the International Association for Management Education.
