| Diversity candidates visit The search committee for the Associate Provost for Institutional Diversity has identified five candidates who will be invited to campus to interview for the position between Jan. 24 and Feb. 8. As soon as the itineraries for these visits are arranged, the information will be widely publicized. It is anticipated that there will be more than one open forum on campus for each candidate. The university community will be invited to these meetings through Columns, if possible, and other media. ITLP applications due The Instructional Technology Leadership Program gives faculty the chance to develop applications of instructional technologies for their courses and to become catalysts for change in their departments. The program, administered by the Office of Instructional Support and Development, is open to faculty who are relatively inexperienced in instructional technologies but who wish to develop their skills in the area. The ITLP provides a $2,500 equipment grant and requires a 9 a.m.-5 p.m. commitment during the week of May 1418, monthly meetings throughout the 20012002 academic year, and the development of an instructional technology application with the assistance of a support team and instructional design specialists. Health insurance seminars Employee benefits will hold seminars about the new health insurance and prescription drug plans Feb. 12, 13, 19 and 20 in Mahler Auditorium at the Georgia Center. Ropes Facilitator training clinic Recreational sports department will offer a clinic to train facilitators for the UGA ropes course Feb. 24. Cost is $160 ($150 students). Register by Jan. 31. For more information, call 542-5060. Nonprofit governance workshop UGAs Institute for Nonprofit Organizations will host a workshop on nonprofit governance Feb. 2 at the Georgia Center. The workshop will be led by John Carver, a leader in improving the governance of nonprofit organizations. Carvers morning presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session and a luncheon. The registration fee is $30 prior to Jan. 26 and $35 after. WUGA-FM invites essays WUGA-FM is looking for essays from the university and Athens-area community to air during spring semester on its public affairs presentation, From All Sides. The three-minute commentaries are scheduled for broadcast on Fridays at 4:25 p.m. If you have expertise in a specific issue of community concern or a human interest story to tell, WUGA welcomes your volunteer contributions to your local National Public Radio affiliate. Ballroom dance workshop The Ballroom Dance Club is having a workshop Jan. 28 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Memorial Hall, offering beginning hustle, intermediate tango, beginning lindy hop, and beginning foxtrot. Price for each session is $10 ($8 students) with advance registration and $12 ($10 students) at the door.
