Reimbursements will be deposited directly into bank accounts

University employees whose paychecks are directly deposited in banks will soon also have reimbursement payments sent directly to banks.
Henry Huckaby, senior vice president for finance and administration, says that, beginning Feb. 1, reimbursements for travel, dependent care and Medflex will be sent directly to the bank accounts of employees who now have payroll direct deposit.
The procedure will benefit employees because they won’t have to take reimbursement checks to the bank—or risk losing or misplacing the checks, Huckaby says. And it will benefit the accounts-payable department by reducing the daily volume of checks that must be processed and freeing staff members for other tasks.
As with payroll direct deposit, employees will be notified that their reimbursement has been deposited. Employees who now receive an e-mail advisement of payroll deposit will also receive e-mail advisement of a reimbursement deposit; those not on the e-mail advisement system will receive a printed notice.
Huckaby encourages all employees to adopt direct deposit because it is safer and more convenient for employees. He also urges employees to sign up to receive advisement of direct deposits by e-mail.
Information and forms for direct deposit and e-mail advisement can be accessed at the payroll department Web site at (www.busfin.uga.edu/payroll/).
