Administrative Professionals Day
The Athens chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals, Human Capital Developers, and the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education will sponsor a conference for Administrative Professionals Day (formerly Secretaries’ Day) on April 25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Georgia Center. The program is designed for administrative assistants and aides, secretaries, executive assistants, office managers and assistants, clerks, coordinators, supervisors, receptionists and customer service representatives.
The conference will consist of two half-day professional workshops and a banquet luncheon. Attendees will look at leadership traits, the changing roles of administrative professionals, skills needed for professional success, the internal and external impact of stress, and strategies to resolve conflict, satisfy customers and manage stress.
Athens-based trainer Donna C. Taylor will be the featured presenter. Taylor is president of Human Capital Developers, a private consulting company she established in 1992 after 13 years on the UGA faculty. She is a member of the Northeast Georgia Business Council (and past chair of the board of directors), serves as an associate for the Kettering Foundation, and sits on the board of directors of St. Mary’s Health Care Center. Taylor was the 2000 recipient of the Daisy L. Shaw Pioneer in Business Award from the Northeast Georgia Business Council and has been nominated for the Minority Small Business Owner of the Year Award. The second presenter will be Quintress M. Leslie, assistant leadership development associate at Human Capital Developers.

Return-to-School workshops
The A.N.S.E.R.S. program at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education is offering a workshop for UGA employees who are interested in beginning or continuing their college education at UGA. The workshop is scheduled for April 3, noon-1:30 p.m., in 137 Tate Student Center; it will be repeated that evening, 5:30-7 p.m., in room Q at the Georgia Center.
The workshop includes admissions information and consultation with

Environmental health issues
The Environmental Health Office is now located at the Hazardous Materials Treatment Facility on Will Hunter Road. The phone number is 369-5707. Questions about indoor air, food or water-quality problems can be directed to this office.

Adult swim lessons
The department of recreational sports is now offering adult swimming lessons. For more information, call 542-5060 or visit the cashier’s window at the Ramsey Student Center.

Drop-in aerobics
Drop-in aerobic passes from the department of recreational sports are now being offered at half-price ($27.50 faculty/staff; $20 students). Classes include step, interval, circuit, kickboxing, funk and numerous others, taught by a certified aerobic instructor and suited to individual fitness levels. Sign up at the cashier’s window in the Ramsey Student Center. For more information, call 542-5060.
