Return-to-School workshop
UGA’s A.N.S.E.R.S. program will conduct a return-to-school workshop on April 30, 6:30-8:30 p.m., at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education. The workshop is designed for adults in the Athens area who are interested in beginning or continuing their college education. There is no charge.
The workshop will include an overview of the A.N.S.E.R.S. (Adult and Nontraditional Student Educational Resources and Services) program, information about educational opportunities at UGA and at other schools in the area and consultations with A.N.S.E.R.S. pre-admission advisers.
The A.N.S.E.R.S. program, established and administered by the Georgia Center, functions as a clearinghouse, broker, and provider for a wide variety of services for adults and nontraditional undergraduate students, both on- and off-campus.
To register for the workshop, call 542-6400. The last day to register is April 27.

Visitors can check out pilates, yoga, boxing and a variety of aerobic classes free of charge and have a chance to win a free registration. Summer-session sign-ups for instructional classes and drop-in aerobics will take place at the registration window. For questions, call 542-5060.

Research program mentors
The Graduate School invites UGA faculty to participate as mentors in the 2001 Summer Undergraduate Research Program. This program introduces historically underrepresented undergraduate students to research and graduate education in the sciences and mathematics. A primary objective of the program is to encourage student participants to continue their education through graduate studies at UGA. The 2001 program will coincide with the eight-week summer semester: June 6-July 27.
The Graduate School pays each SURP student $3,500 to perform 40 hours per week of research for eight weeks. Modest funding of up to $500 for supplies is available for faculty mentors to support the research of the SURP participants. SURP students are expected to write a paper and present a poster about their research project at the end of the research experience.
Faculty who are interested in serving as a mentor and encouraging an undergraduate to pursue graduate study should call 542-4790.
