Volunteers needed
“Hunker Down with Housing,” sponsored by University Housing, is the official welcome to UGA for students living in campus residence halls.
New students and their families moving in on Saturday, Aug. 11, and Sunday, Aug. 12, will be greeted by volunteer “welcome teams” to make the move-in process less stressful. More than 115 upperclass students and University Housing staff will participate, and UGA faculty and staff are also encouraged to volunteer.
“Hunker Down with Housing” is supported in part by the UGA Parents and Families Association, and the University Police, Parking Services, Food Services, Greek Life and Auxiliary Services also collaborate on this weekend event.
Interested faculty and staff are asked to volunteer for one four-hour shift on Aug. 11, between 6 a.m. and midnight, and/or Aug. 12, between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. Most volunteers work outside, greeting parents and students, answering questions, giving directions to area parking lots, and assisting with other move-in weekend activities. There will be a training session on Aug. 10 in Georgia Hall, Tate Student Center, 6-8 p.m., for all volunteers.
To volunteer, or for further information, contact Lori Crowe at 542-7295 or lcrowe@uga.edu.

Beginning July 31, e-mail payroll advisements (check stubs) will be in portable document format and may be opened using Adobe Acrobat. The previously required Payview software will no longer be necessary to open the advisements. The e-mail attachment will continue to require a password to be opened. This change enables Mac users as well as other platform users to utilize the e-mail service and significantly simplifies the signup process. Anyone already utilizing the service will continue to receive it.
Those wishing to sign up for the service or to learn more about it should visit the payroll Web site at www.busfin.uga.edu/payroll or contact Julie or Christy at 542-3431. Users receive their pay stub via a secured e-mail attachment on the afternoon before payday.
