Nesbit named associate VP and budget director
Ryan A. Nesbit has been appointed associate vice president for finance and administration and budget director at the university.
Nesbit has held the position on an interim basis since last August. His permanent appointment to the position was effective July 1, according to Henry M. Huckaby, senior vice president for finance and administration.
While serving on an interim basis, Ryan did an excellent job in implementing the fiscal year 2001 budget and working with the senior administration in revising the budget development process for fiscal year 2002, Huckaby says. I am confident he will continue to provide thoughtful and responsive leadership in managing the affairs of the universitys budget office.
Prior to becoming interim associate vice president, Nesbit held several positions in the office of university architects, serving most recently as assistant director and associate director. Before joining the office in 1994, he was a consultant in financial and management information systems to Noramco in Athens and Renken Boat Manufacturing Co. in Charleston, S.C.
He took leave from UGA in 1995 and 1996 to serve as the Sanford Stadium venue operations manager for the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games.
Nesbit received a degree in business administration from the Citadel, where he played varsity basketball and was a Rhodes Scholar finalist. He received an M.B.A. degree from UGA in 1991.
