Bulletin board
Correction
The information regarding Forte season tickets in last weeks issue was incorrect. Season tickets are no longer on sale; tickets to individual events will be available at the Tate Student Center cashiers window beginning Aug. 28. Columns apologizes for the error.
Board seminar
The Non-Profit Management Program of the Terry College of Business will sponsor a one-day seminar for board members in non-profit organizations on Sept. 19, 8:30 a.m.4 p.m., in the Tate Student Center. The seminar is designed to provide management education to board members in order to improve board effectiveness. Sessions will cover board responsibilities, strategic planning, working with volunteers, and fund raising, and will be led by UGA faculty.
An organization may send as many as four board members at no cost; the seminar is underwritten by the Fuqua Foundation. For further information or to register, call 542-3750.
Faculty orientation
The UGA Libraries are hosting library orientations for faculty on Sept. 5, 45:30 p.m., and Sept. 6, 1011:30 a.m., in both the main and science libraries. The sessions will run concurrently in both libraries and will be identical on each day.
While primarily aimed at new faculty, the sessions are also open to returning faculty, who may wish to take this opportunity to review electronic resources. To attend, RSVP by Sept. 3 to either Kristin Nielsen (knielsen@uga.edu, 542-7520) or Carla Wilson Buss (cbuss@libris.libs.uga.edu, 542-1114) for sessions in the main library, or to Monica Pereira (mapere@libris.libs.uga.edu, 542-0696), for science library sessions. Refreshments will be served.
West Nile virus analysis
Dead crows, bluejays, or birds of prey (e.g., owls, hawks, falcons) on campus should be reported to Eric Ansley, environmental health officer, at 369-5707. Dead birds found off campus should be reported to Bill Dukes, AthensClarke County Health Department, 542-5262. They will collect the birds for testing for West Nile virus.
Responsible research
The Office of the Vice President for Research will host a satellite teleconference on Conducting Research Responsibly on Sept. 13, 14 p.m., in rooms T-U and V-W of the Georgia Center for Continuing Education.
The teleconference provides a forum for defining and discussing the issues critical to the responsible conduct of research. Experts from various federal agencies, professional groups, and the extramural research community will address the legal and ethical considerations surrounding human subjects, research misconduct, and mentorship. Panelists will discuss a variety of issues, including suppression of data, incentive payments, conflicts of interest, authorship, scientific misconduct and whistle blowing.

Mini-grant applications
The Office of International Public Service and Outreach is now accepting applications for International Development Education Awards grants. These grants are intended to support activities that lay the groundwork for international initiatives; activities funded under IDEAS will usually result in the submission of a proposal for external funding.
The deadline for applications is Oct. 15. Detailed information regarding applications and evaluations is available on the International Public Service and Outreach Web site (www.uga.edu/internationaldevelopment).
