Tuition is $30 per semester (plus instrument rental).
A registration meeting will be held Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. in Edge Recital Hall in the music building. UGA cello professor David Starkweather will direct the String Project. Political memoir workshop
A creative writing workshop on the political memoir is being offered Sept. 10, 4-6 p.m., 251 Gilbert Hall; Sept. 12, 4-6 p.m., 309 Gilbert Hall; and Sept. 14, 4-6 p.m., 230 Gilbert Hall.
The workshop is open to students, faculty and staff but will be limited to 12 participants, with no drop-ins allowed. Participation in all three sessions is expected. To sign up in advance, contact Roberta Fernandez in Romance languages via e-mail at robertaf@uga.edu.
Participants will explore the way that history, imagination and political perspective come together in specific texts that interpret Latin American and U.S. Latino culture. In the first session, participants will discuss the topics of identity about which they wish to write. In the second and third sessions, the contributions of each member in the group will be read and commented on by the group. Participants may work with material previously written in English or in Spanish or they may start from scratch.
