Programming support
The UGA Alumni Association can provide financial support for programming to UGA organizations. Requests for assistance must be submitted at least 90 days before the program, in order to allow time for review and approval by the associations board of directors.
The program support form is available at the Alumni Relations Office in the Wray-Nicholson House at 298 Hull St. and also on the alumni Web site, www.alumni.uga.edu/naa.
Position announcement
The Honors Program is seeking qualified applicants for the position of assistant to the director.
The assistant to the director is engaged in high school recruitment and admissions management for the Honors Program, working in close coordination with the Office of Admissions. Other responsibilities include alumni development and fund-raising activities, as well as selection for the new Honors in Washington internship program. Special projects and initiatives may be assigned, including the preparation of public relations materials, reports and letters. Some out-of-town travel is expected in this position.
A bachelors degree and strong public relations and writing skills are required. Some work experience or familiarity with the university is desirable. Salary is negotiable and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Interested applicants should submit a cover letter and resume to Jere W. Morehead, director, Honors Program, 115 Moore College.
Review of applications will begin Oct. 1 and will continue until the position is filled. The expected starting date is Nov. 1, or as soon thereafter as possible.
Swimming lessons
The department of recreational sports is offering fall swimming lessons. Youth classes are being held on Sundays, while adult lessons are held at various times throughout the week. For information on class times and fees, call recreational sports at 542-5060. Register at the cashiers desk in the Ramsey Student Center.
This fall, for the first time, private swim lessons are also being offered. Lessons are available for all ages and abilities. Each lesson consists of half an hour of one-on-one instruction. Lessons are scheduled by appointment through the learn-to-swim coordinator, on the basis of pool availability and access requirements. For more information, contact Libby at 542-5060.
