UGA forms hazard assessment response team

UGA plans to become one of the few institutions of higher education in the country with its own on-campus “haz-mat” team. Staffed by 12 individuals, the Hazard Assessment Response Team will be capable of responding to chemical, biological and radiation hazards 24 hours a day, seven days a week. University officials expect HART to be fully operational in spring 2002. UGA currently contracts with a private company in Atlanta for its hazardous assessment needs.
