TIME IN CURRENT POSITION: Five years.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
“I provide technology support for the college in the areas of instruction, administration and research.”

A TYPICAL DAY AT WORK: “It’s very random. I work with faculty on Web sites, software problems and manage the College of Education’s computer labs and work with the lab manager. It’s very hectic; there are a lot of things going on.”

MOST REWARDING PART OF MY JOB:
“The thing I enjoy most about my job is working with the people I work with--the faculty and staff here. I really like knowing that what I’m doing with the faculty is somehow affecting the students.”

MOST CHALLENGING PART OF MY JOB: “There are so many needs in our college and campus-wide. It is overwhelming because there is not enough time, money or people to satisfy those needs.”

OTHER UGA EXPERIENCE: “I graduated from the art department with a master of fine arts degree in 1996. I worked in the computer area of the UGA bookstore, and I also worked at the graduate school for about a year.”

OTHER WORK EXPERIENCE:
“Before I came to UGA I was a student--and teaching assistant--at Iowa State University.”

IF I WERE NOT DOING THIS JOB, I WOULD MOST LIKE TO: “Be a stay-at-home mom with a studio in my house where I would work on my artwork and be with my three-year-old son, Austin.”

THE PERSON I MOST ADMIRE: “My husband, Paul, who is a paramedic in Athens. Our worlds are so different. My world is safe, and he wears a bullet-proof vest when he goes to work every day. The things he sees amazes me. I admire the fact that he’s able to come home and still be such a caring father and husband.”

OFF-THE-JOB INTERESTS: “Art, family, spending time with my husband and son. I also enjoy cooking.”

FAVORITE MUSIC:
“I am very eclectic when it comes to music. I like just about everything.”

A BOOK I WOULD RECOMMEND TO OTHERS: “My favorite books that I just finished reading are the Harry Potter series.”

THE ISSUE THAT CONCERNS ME MOST ABOUT TODAY’S WORLD: “I see a lot of people striving for the brand new house with a three-car garage and giving their kids designer clothes but they are not really focusing on what’s important.
“Instead of providing emotional stability for their kids, they are spending time that they need to be spending with their kids at their jobs.”
