College of Pharmacy names its first assistant dean for student affairs

Flynn Warren, clinical professor at the College of Pharmacy, has become the colleges first assistant dean for student affairs. In this new position Warren will oversee the general areas of admissions, student advising and counseling, student records and minority recruiting and student publications. He also will be involved with class scheduling, student special events, meetings, competitions and travel. The new position will handle the student affairs duties that were previously held by the colleges associate dean.
Warren has been a faculty member of the College of Pharmacy since 1985 when he joined the department of pharmacy practice as a clinical pharmacy associate. He became a clinical associate professor in 1998 and a clinical professor in 2001. He had previously worked at the college from 1967 to 1977 as an instructor.
Warren was a pharmacist and head of pharmacy services at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Riyadh, Saudia Arabia, from 1977 to 1985. He received a bachelor of science degree in pharmacy from the University of South Carolina in 1964 and a master of science degree in hospital pharmacy at UGA in 1970.
Warren has held 36 elected offices or appointed positions, including his current position as first vice president and member of the executive committee of the board of directors of the Georgia Pharmacy Association. He is also a current member of the Health Care Workforce Policy Advisory Committee of the department of community health of the state of Georgia. He has held 13 positions on College of Pharmacy committees.
Warren has published one book, six book chapters, 31 articles and seven abstracts. He has received 26 grants either as principal investigator or co-investigator.
