Information technology units merge to form Enterprise IT Services
By Ruthann Benyshek

Effective Oct. 13, several campus computing and information technology units were combined into one new unit called Enterprise Information Technology Services, according to Kirk Bertram, UGAs chief information officer.
The shortened version, Enterprise IT, will become more familiar as the campus adjusts to the new organization, Bertram says.
Staff from units formerly known as University Computing and Networking Services, Financial Information Services, Student Information Services, Information Systems Scheduling, Telephone Services, and some staff from University Cablevision were merged following a review process that had been under way for approximately two years. During the review process, surveys and interviews were conducted with information technology staff and with faculty and students who rely on the information technology structure for e-mail, instructional support and administrative systems.
This combined organization should improve UGAs capability to provide campus-wide information technology services and will enable us to plan, fund, and implement strategic information technology initiatives, Bertram says.
For more information, visit the EITS Web site at eits.uga.edu or call the Help Desk at 542-3106. Information about the CIOs office and the process involved in defining and creating the new IT organization is available at cio.uga.edu.
