The University of Georgia Health Center recently hired two new physicians, bringing the number of full-time medical doctors on staff to 15. Deborah Anderson is a psychiatrist with expertise in disaster medicine and multicultural issues. She earned her medical degree from Hahnemann University Medical School and continued her training at the University of South Florida with a specialty in child and adolescent psychiatry. In addition to seeing patients at the Health Center, Anderson is a member of the American Red Cross disaster mental health team. She recently spent two weeks in Washington and New York providing crisis intervention for family members and workers affected by the disasters. Ron Forehand joins the Health Center staff after 27 years of service as a medical officer in the Navy. He has practiced on hospital teaching staffs and clinical staffs and served as a senior administrator.

He served as military medical representative to NATO and the United Nations and for multinational military events. Forehand began seeing patients at the Health Center on a part- time basis in 1997, but joined the staff full time in August 2001 after retirement from the Navy. He is a graduate of Eastern Virginia Medical School and completed a residency at the Naval Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla. Forehand is board-certified in family practice and sees patients in the Health Centers Acute Care and Medical Clinics. He is chair of the University Health Centers Committee on Disaster Preparedness. In addition he is president of the Athens Area Child Abuse Prevention Council Board.
