Breaking up is hard to do

Work has begun on the transformation of D.W. Brooks Drive to a pedestrian mall. Construction of the four-year project is planned to proceed one block at a time, beginning with this block of Brooks Drive between Carlton and Green streets. In addition to wide sidewalks and grassy areas, the plan calls for an amphitheater and a series of terraces rising from the Miller Plant Sciences Building to Conner Hall. Photo by Peter Frey
