Professor compiles ecological dictionary

$15
Editorial AbyaYala (Quito, Ecuador)
Understanding the terminology surrounding ecological thought and its application for Latin America has many important implications. Written in Spanish by assistant professor of geography Fausto O. Sarmiento, the Diccionario de Ecologia is a compilation of terminology that aids in the study of Latin American ecology.
The book is applicable to modern ecological thought and its application on conservation biology and sustainable development in Latin America.
Targeted towards professionals and students involved in the discourse of sustainability and regional area studies, the book is a response to the reception of two earlier editions, one in 1986 and another in 1991. In addition, there was a request for the addition of conventional terminology at an international meeting in Quito, Ecuador.
“I hope to accomplish the science of modern landscape ecology and its practical application for conservation biology, natural resources management and environmental planning geared to sustainable development in Latin America,” says Sarmiento.
