Advisor award nominations
During spring semester, the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences will present its annual awards for excellence in academic advising. Two advisors, one faculty and one professional/staff, will receive an Outstanding Academic Advisor Award. Each will receive a salary increase and a recognition certificate at the college awards luncheon.
The Franklin College invites nominations from undergraduate students in arts and sciences. Any arts and sciences professional/staff or faculty advisor involved in the academic advisement of undergraduate students in the Franklin College may be nominated.
Nomination forms are available in 106 New College or online at www.franklin.uga.edu/saga/data/ballot.htm. Hand-written nominations also are acceptable. Nominations should include the nominee’s name and department, designation as faculty or professional/staff advisor, and a list of the reasons why this person should receive the award. Nominators should submit their names, addresses, and telephone numbers along with the nomination.
A selection committee comprised of lower- and upper-division student representatives will evaluate nominations for evidence of effective advising qualities and practices.
The deadline for submitting nominations is March1. Nominations should be sent to Outstanding Academic Advisor Award, Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, 212 New College.

Pregnancy study
Women in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy and between the ages of 18 and 40 are needed for a study in the department of exercise science aimed at better understanding the changes in physical activity and back function that occur during pregnancy. Participants can receive gift certificates up to $50. For more information, call Melanie at 542-4138.

Mother-infant study
The university is again looking for mothers and their first-born children, age 10 to 12 months, for a study on mother-infant interaction. Participants will come to the McPhaul Center for two visits, about one hour each, in which they will play with their child in different episodes. For each visit, participants will receive $15 and at the end of the study they will also receive a videotape copy of their child’s participation in the study. To learn more about this study, contact Natasha at 583-0031.
