Several UGA units were recognized for excellent public relations projects in the regional competition sponsored by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. UGA received three Grand Awards. The offices of the president, the provost, public affairs and the Center for Humanities and Arts shared the award for best institutional relations project for UGAs commemoration of the 40th anniversary of desegregation. The video prepared for that commemoration--Crossing the Great Divide--won a Grand Award for Steve Bell, Geof Gilland and Ray Moore of Public Affairs. The new magazine produced by the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, The Franklin Chronicle, won the Grand Award for editorial design for Phil Williams of the Franklin College and Cheri Wranosky of public affairs. In addition, 13 other projects earned an Award of Excellence or Award of Merit for nine UGA units.
