Federal funding
The Shared Instrumentation Grants program operated by the National Center for Research Resources provides a cost-effective mechanism for funding equipment purchases. Applications are being accepted for single, commercially available instruments or integrated instrument systems costing at least $100,000 for shared use among three or more investigators funded by the National Institutes of Health.
The program is designed to facilitate acquisition or updating of expensive shared-use instrumentation not generally available through other NIH mechanisms. Types of instrumentation supported include, but are not limited to, nuclear magnetic resonance systems, electron and confocal microscopes, mass spectrometers, protein and DNA sequencers, biosensors, X-ray diffractometers and cell sorters. The maximum award for equipment is $500,000 and does not include the cost of implementation, operation or maintenance.
Applications must be received by the National Center for Research Resources no later than March 22.
Complete program details and submission procedures are on the program Web site, grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PAR-02-036.html. The Office of Sponsored Programs (542-5972; sponprog@ovpr.uga.edu) asks for notification by anyone planning to submit a proposal to NCRR.
Bulletin board is limited to announcements from campus-based organizations whose membership includes UGA faculty and/or staff.
