Veterinary Medicine students take part in Spay Day
Nearly 50 College of Veterinary Medicine students--including Angela Pitman (left)--took part in Student Spay Day last month. Working in groups of two, the 30 juniors spayed one cat while more than a dozen sophomores and freshmen administered anesthesia. In total, the students spayed 30 cats from three different animal shelters: Washington-Wilkes, Pup and Cat, and PAWS. Cats also were given a flea preventative and were tested for feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus. (Photo by Carol Anne Lanier)
